Our Daycare Subsidy program provides childcare subsidies to families with incomes below 85% of the New York State Median Income.
The eligibility for subsidy is based on the parents'/guardians' participation in at least one of the following:
- Educational and training programs that lead to employment in a demand occupation. The list of demand occupations is generated by the state Department of Labor.
- Working parents
- Teenage parents who were completing their high school education.
- Families who needed help to prevent a child's out-of-home placement.
- Working parents who are transitioning from Temporary Assistance
- Daycare for Foster Parents to ensure daycare while working.
After your application has been received, the following steps will occur:
- Submit your application. Once an application is submitted it is reviewed for completeness, and additional documentation is requested as necessary. If requested documents are not received by the deadline, the application may be denied.
- Eligibility is determined. Once all documentation is submitted, your application and documents are reviewed for eligibility. Eligibility is determined based on many factors, including a qualifying child care need and applicable income requirements.
- Notification of Eligibility Determination. You will receive an official notice that will explain the application outcome.
- Waitlist. If your household is found eligible for CCAP, it will be placed on a waitlist. Households on the waitlist will be considered based on priority status at the time of initial application. Federal priority standards (as outlined to the right) will be considered first. You will be contacted when your household is reached on the waitlist.
- A new application will be required. If more than 30 days have passed since the original application was submitted, you will need to submit a new application with updated information, to ensure that your household remains eligible.
Please refer to the chart below for the maximums based on family size. These amount are effective from June 1, 2026 through May 31, 2027. Each additional person after 8, add $17,040 annually.

Federal Priority Standards and the District Waiver will be used to determine which eligible households can be opened and/or renewed.
Current federal priorities include:
Families experiencing homelessness.
Families with very low income (300% State Income Standards.)
Families who have child(ren) with special needs.
