Cattaraugus County Office of Emergency Services is proud is announce that we will host two, free New York Citizen Preparedness Corps trainings in October.

New York State Homeland Security and Emergency Services, in conjunction with the Governor's Office and New York National Guard, will present two classes on Monday, October 26, 2026.  The first class will be held at Little Valley Fire Department at 11 a.m. and the second will be held at the Olean Senior Center at 4 p.m.  Each family that attends will receive one preparedness kit to take home!

With severe weather events becoming more frequent and more extreme, it is more important than ever that New Yorkers are prepared for disasters. The NY Citizen Preparedness Training Program teaches residents to have the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster, respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible to normal conditions. This training course will provide an introduction to responding to a natural or man-made disaster. Participants will be advised on how to properly prepare for any disaster, including developing a family emergency plan and stocking up on emergency supplies.

Monday, October 26, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Little Valley Fire Department (101 Third St in Little Valley NY)
