News From:
Administrator's Office

Good Afternoon:

It has recently come to our attention that active and retired employees have been provided with inaccurate information regarding a proposal to transition Cattaraugus County retirees to a customized, Cattaraugus County-sponsored Medicare Advantage Plan with AETNA.

Cattaraugus County prides itself on offering our employees and retirees excellent health insurance benefits and providing excellent customer service through our Human Resources Department for employees and retirees needing personalized assistance with insurance questions.

We have attached a list of FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS for your review and information. Also attached is a MARKETING COMPARISON of the benefits of the current Cattaraugus County self-funded Health Plan administered by Independent Health with what will be provided by the customized, County sponsored AETNA Medicare Advantage plan. You will note that all benefits are the same or better and that this only applies to retirees over the age of 65.

FURTHER, WE HAVE ARRANGED FOR HUMAN RESOURCES PERSONNEL TO BE AVAILABLE TODAY, OCTOBER 8, 2025 FROM 3:00 P.M. UNTIL 4:30 P.M. IN THE BASEMENT – EMERGENCY SERVICES CONFERENCE AREA, LITTLE VALLEY TO ANSWER QUESTIONS OF ACTIVE EMPLOYEES AND/OR RETIREES. Informational handouts will be provided.

As always, questions can be directed to Human Resources or to my office. We want to ensure that every active employee and retiree has accurate and factual information.

Thank you.

Kelly J. Reed

County Administrator
