Responsibilities


The Cattaraugus County Department of Community Services (formerly the Department of Mental Health) has two primary responsibilities

  • To plan services for three needs: Mental Health, Alcohol and Substance Abuse, and Developmental Disabilities.
  • To provide mental health services to Cattaraugus County residents.
    • Services for mental health are provided directly by the Department

 



Community Services Board

The Community Services Board (CSB) is an advisory board whose primary function is to develop and approve local services plans for mental hygiene services and advocate for services in Cattaraugus County. 

2026 Meeting Details: The CSB meets at 1 Leo Moss Dr., 2d Floor Administrative Conference Room, Olean NY, with Webex option, at 10 a.m. the fourth Friday of January, March, May, July, September, and November.

January is the annual CSB reorganization meeting.

* Section 41.11 of NY Mental Hygiene Law states, “In all local governments with a population less than one hundred thousand, community services boards, at the option of the local government, shall have … 15 members appointed by the local government. … Each separate subcommittee shall have no more than 9 members appointed by the local government, except that each subcommittee for mental health shall have no more than 11 members appointed by the local government.
