The New York State Office of Temporary Disability Assistance has announced that components of the 2017-18 Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)
have been extended through Friday, April 27, 2018.
The program was scheduled to close on Friday, March 16, 2018.
Under the directive from the state, the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services will continue to accept applications post-marked or submitted electronically at mybenefits.ny.gov, until the close of business on Friday, April 27, 2018.
The Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging's Senior Wellness and Nutrition program needs your help. There is an immediate need for volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels in the Olean area.
The Olean Senior Wellness and Nutrition site is located in the John Ash Community Center, 112 North Barry Street in Olean. Meals on Wheels are delivered out of this location Monday through Friday. Most volunteers deliver 10-16 meals once a week and it takes about one hour to complete a delivery route.
The Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging's Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) needs your help. There is an immediate need for volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels in the Salamanca area.
The Meals on Wheels distribution site in Salamanca is open Monday through Friday. Most volunteers deliver approximately 10 to 16 meals once a week. It takes about one hour to complete a delivery route.
The Cattaraugus County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board, along with the Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning and Tourism, the Cattaraugus County Farm Bureau, the Cattaraugus County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Southern Tier West Regional Planning and Development Board will host the 7th Annual Cattaraugus County Farmer-Neighbor Dinner on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the West Valley Fire Hall, 9091 Route 240, West Valley, NY.

If you were without power during the recent snow storm in Cattaraugus County and you lost food as a result of that power outage, the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services may be able to help.
If you buy groceries with SNAP benefits you may be able to get some of your SNAP dollars added back to your EBT card but you have to act fast!
To apply, complete the attached application and return it to the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services SNAP Unit before March 15, 2018. You can apply by mail or in person between 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday.
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office will be hosting a hunters' education class for the gun portion only on the following dates and time: Monday, March 26, 2018 and Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. The class will be held at the Cattaraugus County Fairgrounds Corporate Building, Little Valley.

Across the United States, Meals on Wheels programs enlisted elected officials, local celebrities, and other prominent figures to deliver meals, speak out for seniors, and raise awareness of the power of Meals on Wheels.
