The Emergency Benefit component of the Heating and Energy Assistance (HEAP) program will open on Monday, January 4, 2021. The Emergency Benefit will be authorized for those HEAP eligible households that can document that a heating/utility emergency exists. An emergency is defined as those households that are threatened with a heat/utility shut-off or their utility service is already off, there is less than 25% fuel left in oil/propane/kerosene tanks, or there is less than a 10 day supply of wood/wood pellets/coal.

Cattaraugus County Health Department is sad to report the forty-fifth death of a resident of Cattaraugus County due to COVID-19 related complications. He was a 65 year old male who developed respiratory failure and was unable to overcome his illness despite aggressive medical treatment.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family and the entire Cattaraugus County community.
