As per the Governor’s Executive Order issued on April 12, 2020, Essential businesses, as well as state and local government agencies and authorities, must procure, fashion, or otherwise obtain face coverings and provide such coverings to employees who directly interact with the public during the course of their work at no-cost to the employee.

Cattaraugus County hereby extends the Cattaraugus County State of Emergency which was declared on March 15, 2020, at 12:00 p.m., in response to Coronavirus-19 (COVID-19), which the World Health Organization designated as a world-wide pandemic.

Travel related cases and community contact transmission of COVID-19 have been documented throughout New York State, and of particular concern, there are 13 confirmed cases of COVID-19 within Cattaraugus County to date.

April 9, 2020

Cattaraugus County Health Department was notified of its thirteenth confirmed case of COVID-19. The reporting laboratory was Wadsworth Center - Biggs Laboratory, Albany, NY.

A male resident who lives in the southeastern part of the county with no significant travel history was tested for COVID-19 on April 7th after complaining of loss of taste, fever, cough and vomiting. On April 8th, his test results indicated that he was positive for COVID-19.
